General Summary of Position: The Robert J. Manning School of Business, University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for the position of Non-tenure-track Lecturer. The instructional field is Professional Communications and the position involves teaching and service. Professional Communications is a multi-section "hands-on" required sophomore-level course in the School's undergraduate program designed to strengthen student oral and written communication skills in small and large groups. Undergraduate courses are generally taught during the day but evening teaching is also expected. The service component of the position includes leading periodic course reviews, ongoing course development, participation in the assessment of student learning, student recruiting, advising, retention and other related administrative responsibilities. This is a full-time benefited renewable position with the possibility of promotion to the rank of Senior Lecturer.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A doctorate in Communications or closely related field (must have doctorate by the time of appointment, September 2013)
  • Previous College-level teaching experience with evidence of teaching effectiveness
  • Current or recent corporate or industrial experience in a field directly related to Professional Communications
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Experience in using the Blackboard online course platform
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, industry, and diverse populations

**Evidence of teaching may consist of student course evaluations, course syllabi, results of classroom observations, etc.
