Old Main at Texas State University-San Marcos will be ?pinked out? Saturday Oct. 15 through Wednesday Oct. 26 in conjunction with the national Breast Cancer Awareness month.
The building will be illuminated pink for the ?pinked out? Texas State football game Oct. 15 against Lamar University and will remain pink until the Second Annual Texas State Cancer Advocacy Movement for Colleges and Outreach Organization (CAMCO) Bra Night and Fashion Show on Oct. 26.
?Along with being the largest Texas public university with a tobacco-free campus and with all of the Texas State CAMCO activities, this Old Main landmark statement underscores that Texas State is becoming nationally known as ?the cancer prevention university?,? said Lawrence Estaville, professor of geography and CAMCO committee coordinator.
The Old Main pink lighting was approved by Denise Trauth, president of Texas State and William Nance, vice president in collaboration with Komen for the Cure. The Texas State Facilities management team installed the pink filters on Old Main?s spotlights so the pink building can be seen from I-35 and surrounding areas.
