Indian Paintbrush, the film financing and film production entity backed by?by billionaire Steve Rales, ?has picked up Best Lem, a comedy pitch from?Nick Kurzon.
The comedy follows a group of buddies, who together grew up engaging all?sort of social misadventures, ?who must deal with the sudden, out-of-blue?wedding engagement of the man least likely to get hitched,?their ringleader.
The story is loosely based on the real experiences of Kiurzon, who?s made it?a habit of working with stories grounded in reality. He was a co-producer,?editor and cinematographer on Born Rich, Jamie Johnson?s HBO documentary?which arguably launched the trend of reality shows based on stupidly?wealthy, and teamed up again with Johnson on The One Percent.
Kurzon then moved into scripted features, setting up Big Dawg, a football?dramedy revolving around the Cleveland Browns, at Warner Bro.s He also set?at Warners On the Clock, a comedy about the male biological clock.
Lem joins the expanding wedding comedy genre, the genre which has gotten a?boost with the success of Bridesmaids and The Hangover Part II.
Indian hasn?t been shy in acquiring projects since Mark Roybal joined it as?its head and staffed up in the winter. It picked up Me & Earl & The Dying?Girl by Dan Fogelman in March and partnered with Paramount to acquire ?New?Yorker article A Murder Foretold, all the while boarding prestige projects?as producer and financiers.
